I grew up in Brazil, Indiana, a small rural town much like Loganville. I ended up moving south when I attended Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, MS where I graduated with a BFA in Art/Graphic Design. While in Mississippi, I met and married my husband and we had our daughter, Grace. We later moved to Jefferson City, TN and it was there that I was bitten by the education bug. I opened an art studio and I offered art classes to students K-12.
My family moved to the Atlanta area in 2007 when my husband accepted a position at SCAD-Atlanta. I enrolled in UGA's school library media program and I graduated with a MEd in Learning, Design & Technology. I took additional coursework to add a Reading Endorsement to my certification. I completed my media internship and reading clinical at a middle school in Gwinnett County. Before coming to LMS, I served as a media specialist at an elementary school.
My family has a Maltipoo dog, two Scottish Fold cats, a rescue cat, and a Goldendoodle service dog. I enjoy reading, thinking, and having silly conversations. I love to read books that make me think about things and I often have a hard time leaving a book and it's characters.
"Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an Anerican Slave," is one of my favorite books because it is such a powerful story written by an amazing person.
